Topic: Binge Culture Collective
Binge culture collective is a a theatre collective based in Cuba street.
"We think theatre should be serious fun. We make dangerous, immediate and suprising devised work with young Wellington audiences, and the real world, in mind. We believe strongly in collaboration and teamwork and are continually exploring the encounter between performer and audience. We want theatre that does the things TV and film can't handle.
Binge formed in February 2008 as a part of Ralph's Honours level research project at Victoria University, which was a practical exploration of UK company Forced Entertainment. The show we did was called 1001 Things You MUST Do Before You Die.
Next came a performance at New Years called The Anomaly Opens at the Canaan Downs Festival. This was a manic parade of beserk facebook statuses, incomplete countdowns and impromptu confessions, floodlit at midnight under a clear sky.
Our February show Drowning Bird Plummeting Fish received the award for Best Newcomers at the Wellington Fringe and the Most Original Concept Award at the Dunedin Fringe. We were invited to do sideshow performances for Downstage's Pick of the Fringe."
